Saturday, April 25, 2026
All Day

Throughout Chicago and suburbs.

The annual Independent Bookstore Day is a great excuse to get out and visit favorite stores, new stores, and old stores you've been meaning to check out. The Chicago Literary Hall of Fame will go around to a bunch of stores, take some pictures, and send updates via social media on what is transpiring throughout the indie bookstore community. Last year, according to the CHI♥BOOKS website, "55 independent bookstores in the greater Chicago area—from Lake Forest to Beverly, and Libertyville to the Loop—collaborate[d] on our annual Chicagoland Bookstore Crawl." The "crawl" is also a challenge. To play the game, you secure a stamp booklet at your first stop. Those who get at least ten stamps (ten different stores) receive discounts at participaint stores for an entire year. At least, that's how it's worked in the past. In addition, nearly every store will have special offers, limited edition items for sale, giveaways, author appearences, contests, and more.
