A Chicago book that holds special meaning to me

Carless in the city during the 1970s was not a problem. I rode the El and CTA buses everywhere, picking up the Sun-Times at the Belmont El station on the way to my office jobs. I followed the White Sox, Ebert’s and Royko’s columns, and the daily treat was Chicagoan Nicole Hollander’s Sylvia comic strip. Sylvia freely said aloud what many women were only thinking. Hollander soon published several collections including Mercy, it’s the Revolution and I’m in my Bathrobe. Years later, her book, Everything Here is Mine: An Unhelpful Guide to Cat Behavior, was a favorite of my young son’s at bedtime.
