The Chicago Community Trust recently awarded the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame $5,000 to support our efforts to create robust and diverse programming related to Wherever I’m At: An Anthology of Chicago Poetry. The anthology is CLHOF’s first major publication, in partnership with Third World Press and After Hours Press. The three publishers intend to feature the book’s contributors in a variety of readings and discussions, including those centered on important themes that arise through its pages. The book, published on June 13, 2022, has already sold nearly a thousand copies. “The life of a book is generally short,” said CLHOF Founding Executive Director Donald G. Evans, who is also co-editor of the anthology. “This sponsorship will allow us and our venerable publishing partners to extend and amplify the work contained in these poems. The authors and artists included all have strong Chicago ties, and the work is all located in Chicago, but the conversations we want to have only start with our city. Chicago Community Trust’s support means that we will be able to bring this book and its ideas to many different communities.
