Edgar Francis McCartan’s statue memorizes the popular columnist and children’s writer Eugene Field. The memorial includes a statue of the “Dream Lady” from Field’s poem, “Rock-a-by-Lady.” It was installed in 1922. The rectangular stone base has relief sculptures, from his poems “The Sugar Plum Tree,” “Wynken, Blynken and Nod,” “The Fly Away Horse” and “Seein Things.”
